Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White’s office has launched a new online application for those needing a new driver’s license or ID card.

Secretary of State spokesperson Henry Haupt says this new online form will be a time saver.

“What pre-registration allows is you enter in information from your home computer so when you come to the facility the clerk does not have to key in all of that information.  You have already done so.  And that saves a considerable amount of time.”

On the application, you’ll be able to make any necessary changes like your address or weight.  Once completed it will give you a receipt which you should bring with you to the Secretary of State’s office.

You will still need to bring any necessary documents when you go in, like if you’re applying for the real ID.
