595 New Cases of COVID-19 Friday

Just 595 new positive cases of coronavirus disease in the state were reported Friday by the Illinois Department of Public Health. That continues a trend of fewer than 1,000 new cases each day since last Friday.

77 additional deaths were confirmed statewide. 52 of those deaths were in Cook County.

There were no deaths or new positive COVID-19 cases reported in area counties on Friday.

Laboratories have reported almost 25,000 specimens for the 24-hour period ending at 2pm Friday. The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total tests is 4%.
