Jasper County board members Thursday named Dr. Chad Ely as administrator of Jasper County Animal Control. Dr. Ely is an area veterinarian.

The Board did not act on appointment of an animal control warden, but did approve paying $2,500 in back pay on the county animal control contract.

Board members approved bridge aid petitions from North Muddy Township and Wade Township, and contracted with Kemper CPA Group for a single audit at an expense of $5,000.

The Board heard a SUV has been purchased for the sheriff's department through the state purchasing plan and McClane Motors of Newton for just over $32,000.

Board members learned from the six-month financial report that expenses are about the same as last year, but income is about $160,000 behind, due to less income tax and sales tax revenue from the State.
