A local teenager was placed on probation Thursday after being charged with five vehicle burglaries around Effingham.

18-year-old Joshua Burger was arrested in May for the series of burglaries that occurred the same night. Burger had also been charged with possession of a stolen firearm.

Burger was given credit for 43 days served in jail awaiting disposition of his case. He was also placed on two years' probation. Burger was also fined and will have to make restitution to those whose vehicles were burglarized.

Burger was not accused of any damage to the burgled vehicles.
