A local man was placed on probation and given jail time after pleading guilty to patronizing an underage person engaged in prostitution.

53-year-old Robert R. Davis of Effingham was arrested early this year for the acts that involved a 17-year-old girl.

Effingham County State's Attorney Bryan Kibler explained at the time of the arrest that the victim was not yet 18 years old, and money allegedly changed hands, so that made the matter a felony, rather than a misdemeanor.

Davis was placed on two years' probation and was sentenced to 52 days in jail. He was also fined.
