North Clay Board Approves Book Rental and Fees for Coming Year

North Clay school board members have approved book rental and fees for the coming school year. The Board added a five-dollar activity fee for the new year, as well as a discount prepaid food plan for the school year.

Board members discussed 2020 graduation and Prom, but took no action. There was also a review of the athletic handbook, but no action, but the Board did approve the tentative amended budget for the current school year.

The Board reviewed activities this week during the North Clay Teacher Institute. Teachers are meeting virtually for vertical and horizontal grade level meetings or in person per social distancing guidelines. English/Language Arts teachers are taking part in online and On Demand professional development regarding new curriculum for the coming school year. 

It was also reported that the Ice Bucket Challenge to Clay County schools video has reached almost 18,000 people.

In personnel moves, the North Clay board accepted the resignation of Trevin Milner a fulltime high school custodian but will retain Milner as a substitute custodian. Superintendent Travis Wyatt was authorized to hire a replacement for Milner as high school custodian. The Board did hire C.J. Stout to fill another high school custodian position. Also, a maternity leave was approved for Kaylee Flood, the resignation of Kayla Anderson as a cook was accepted, and a resignation was approved of Jason Henry as cross country coach.

Also, the North Clay board hired Barry Adair as high school head girls basketball coach, hired Tiffanie Smith as high school head cheerleading coach and sponsor, approved a three-year contract with District Treasurer Cheryl Kuhlig, and hired Kim Teague as a special education teacher.
