Teutopolis village board members Wednesday approved Tax Increment Financing agreements with Siemer Milling Company and with Farmweld Incorporated on economic development efforts.

The TIF agreement with Siemer Milling totals $186,485.86 over 10 years. The agreement involves improvements being made by Siemer Milling to the company operation and reimbursement of property taxes to Siemer Milling related to the vacation of a portion of Green Street. Since Siemer Milling now owns the property involved, it will be private property so subject to property taxes.

The agreement with Farmweld involves a payment of $7,128.52 to cover their property taxes due for 2019 taxes, payable in 2020.

Teutopolis board members reappointed Dan Hoelscher and Frank Hemmen to new five-year terms on the Village Board of Appeals, and reappointed Maurice Schumacher and Peter Niccum to new three-year terms on the village Planning Commission. The Board also released its hold on a lot in Prairie View Subdivision; paid bills on the Route 40 turn lane project on the west side of the village; and paid for sidewalk work along Pearl Street.

The Teutopolis board also agreed to work with the Teutopolis for Tomorrow group on putting up banners on power poles to honor the graduating high school seniors at T-Town. The plan is to come up with holders so the village and other entities can use the same holders for their banners, too.

Rather than adjourn Wednesday's meeting, the Teutopolis board instead recessed the meeting to Tuesday, May 26 at 7pm for discussion of the allowable size of storage buildings in the village.
