Bobcat GB 2020

Ground was broken Tuesday for a Bobcat sales and service location in Teutopolis.

The operation will be located in Wooden Shoe Development's business park on the west edge of the village along US Route 40.

Doug Jansen is the area sales representative for Bobcat, which produces and sells excavation equipment for a variety of projects, from residential and farm to commercial and industrial. Jansen said Bobcat acquired a six-acre tract west across from McMahon Meats. Plans call for a 9,800-square-foot facility, but there will be room for expansion. Four to five jobs are expected to be realized from the project, but that number could grow.

The Teutopolis operation will serve a 60-mile radius; other Bobcat locations in the region are in Champaign, Springfield and Fairview Heights.

The Teutopolis Bobcat location is to be completed in November or December of this year.

The project marks another notch in the belt for Wooden Shoe Development. 19 individuals contributed toward the purchase of the property and development of the business park in 2014. There are about a half-dozen sites still available.
