2,253 New Cases Reported Wednesday of Coronavirus Disease; Two More Deaths in Jasper County

The Illinois Department of Public Health Wednesday announced 2,253 new cases of coronavirus disease in Illinois. 92 additional deaths were reported.

62 of the deaths occurred in Cook County.

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 50,355 cases, including 2,215 deaths, in 96 counties in Illinois.

A fourth and fifth death have been attributed to Jasper County. One death did not reach the state in time for Wednesday's update. The fourth death was of a man in his 90s, and the fifth death was a woman in her 80s who died early Wednesday morning at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, according to Effingham County Coroner Kim Rhodes, and was a resident of Newton Care Center.
