Bailey Lawsuit

Vote in our poll: Should Illinois Reopen?

State Representative Darren Bailey has filed suit in Clay County Circuit Court, alleging that Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker has violated Bailey's civil rights.

Bailey said the lawsuit asks the Court to find the governor overextended his power by issuing additional "stay at home" orders after his original disaster proclamation, which expired on Apri 9. Bailey said, "Enough is enough! I filed this lawsuit on behalf of myself and my constituents who are ready to go back to work and resume a normal life." Bailey said any actions beyond the original 30-day order should have been brought before the legislature.

The governor announced during his daily press briefing concerning COVID-19 that he intends to act next week to extend the Stay At Home order through Saturday, May 30, with some modifications.

Enough is Enough! I just filed suit against the Illinois Governor.
