36 positive cases of the COVID-19 virus have been identified in Jasper County.

The Tuesday report from the Jasper County Health Department shows that 121 people have been tested. 73 tests came back negative, and 12 tests are pending. As of Sunday, there were 20 positive COVID-19 cases in Jasper County.

As far as those who testified positive, we had earlier reported two deaths. One person is hospitalized, and one person has recovered.

We had reported that when 20 positive cases had been identified, 18 of those were from Newton Care Center. Jasper County Health Department Administrator Deborah Riddle said Tuesday afternoon that not all of the 16 new cases are from the Care Center; she said, "Some are from all over the county." Riddle said that if someone has been in contact with those who tested positive, they have been contacted.

Riddle said the team at the Care Center is "doing an amazing job. They've been in touch with the Illinois Department of Public Health and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to stay up-to-date on the situation."
