Coles County Health Department currently has to date nine laboratory confirmed COVID-19 cases in Coles County.

Coles County Health Department Administrator Diana Stenger said detailed contact tracing continues by Health Department officials per IDPH guidelines. The Department is working to identify and actively monitor individuals who were in contact with the confirmed cases in an effort to reduce the risk of additional transmission.

Stenger said, "We can expect additional confirmed cases in Coles County."

Stenger encourages all residents who develop flu-like symptoms such as, but not limited to, fever, cough, shortness of breath, and/or sore throat to stay home and contact their health care provider before seeking care. In the event of an emergency requiring immediate assistance, you are encouraged to report to first responders your symptoms to help control and prevent the spread of any possible transmission of any potential contagious illness.
