The Fayette County Health Department Wednesday reported the first confirmed positive COVID-19 case in a congregate care facility in the county. Residents and staff of the facility have been notified.

The Health Department reminds that those in congregate care facilities should not be gathering together for activities or for dining. Residents and staff should continue to be screened and have temperature checks. Employees should be screened and have temperature checks. Employees should be screened before a shift, every four hours of a shift, and notify their supervisor if they have possible COVID-19 symptoms. Employees should also wear masks and eye protection when caring for residents, use proper hand washing hygiene, the use of PPE, and cleaning and disinfecting every two hours, if possible.
