Coronavirus 2020

Two new positive COVID-19 cases are being reported in Jasper County.

The Jasper County Health Department reported a second positive case was recorded on Sunday, while a third positive case was reported Monday morning.

The second positive case was a woman in her 90s. The woman is not being hospitalized but is being isolated.

The third positive case was a woman in her 80s. The woman is not being hospitalized, but is being isolated.

Public health officials are investigating the cases and will be speaking with individuals who the women may have come into contact with before the diagnosis. If you have been in contact with the women, you will be contacted. Through these investigations, public health may place other individuals on home quarantine if they are determined to have had significant exposure. Such individuals may not be symptomatic but are quarantined for a period of time, which allows symptoms to develop and pass without posing risk to others.

The Health Department said that in addition to the three positive cases, there have been 10 negative tests, and three tests are pending.
