Special Olympics Illinois has officially canceled the state summer games in Bloomington-Normal due to the coronavirus.

President and CEO Dave Breen put out a message on Facebook.

The games were supposed to be played in June 12th through the 14th. The Special Olympics Illinois team says it's working to plan athlete-centric sports festivals when it's safe to return to competition.

Meanwhile, the organization says its creating new programming for its social media channels during this time. More information is available at www.soill.org.
