Salem resident Shirley Ann (Kramer) Hall has been recognized by the Illinois House of Representatives for her record-setting tenure as a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Hall has been an Auxilian for 79 years, having joined when she was nine years old under the American Legion membership of her father's service in World War I. With assistance from Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs Director Linda Chapa LaVia, it has been determined that Shirley Hall is the longest-serving American Legion Auxiliary member in Illinois history.

Several American Legion and Auxiliary leaders were on hand for the recognition ceremony at the State Capitol in Springfield. That included Illinois State American Legion Commander Roy Weber of Effingham County.
