The suspect in a grooming incident in Teutopolis has been given a May trial date.

FERTO CASTORENA ANTONIO 02 05 20 640

29-year-old Antonio Ferto Castorena of Maywood is accused of traveling to Teutopolis to meet with a Teutopolis High School student early in February. Fellow students had told school officials of the upcoming meeting and law enforcement authorities were waiting when Ferto Castorena arrived on the school parking lot. Sheriff Dave Mahon said at the time that Ferto Castorena and the female student were having a clandestine online relationship and had planned to meet at the school.

During a Thursday morning hearing, Judge Kimberly Koester scheduled a May 26 trial date for Ferto Castorena, with a pre-trial hearing on May 14.

Ferto Castorena is charged with felony counts of grooming and traveling to meet a minor. He is free on $7,500 cash bond.
