Dieterich School Board Approves 20-21 Calendar

Dieterich school board members Monday approved their calendar for the 2020-2021 school year.

Teacher Institute will be held on Monday, August 17, with the first day of student attendance on Tuesday, August 18.

The Board also renewed the one-year contracts of building principals Scott Kocher and Josh Benefield for the 20-21 school year; hired Peyton Reiss as an elementary teacher for 20-21; and approved a student request for individual participation in IHSA Track and Field for this spring.

Board members directed Superintendent Cary Jackson to begin preparations for the budget for the coming fiscal year; approved intergovernmental agreements with the Regional Office of Education that will allow the district to participate in regional safe school programs; amended this school year's calendar to reflect emergency days taken on November 12 and December 16 and 17, 2019; and set a tentative date for Dieterich High School graduation on Saturday, May 16 at 2pm.

The Board accepted a $15,000 donation from the Village of Dieterich; approved applying for a school maintenance grant from the State; and purchased a new van from Goeckner Brothers of Effingham for $24,642.
