The Effingham City Plan Commission Tuesday voted to recommend City Council approval of a subdivision plat for a new medical clinic for Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Effingham. The Commission also recommended that the existing Sarah Bush Lincoln Bonutti Clinic property and the adjoining land to the east be rezoned from highway commercial district to neighborhood shopping district. The neighborhood shopping district designation will accommodate a medical clinic.

The replat would convert all of the affected property into one lot, rather than three lots as is now the case.

Both Boris Bonutti of Bonutti Clinic, the seller of the property, and Vice President of Development Kim Uphoff of Sarah Bush Lincoln, the purchaser, said the property will be the home of a new medical center. Uphoff said the plans for the medical clinic are still in development, as is the timetable for how the project will proceed.

The project will involve the demolition of the existing SBL Bonutti Clinic as well as the former Midas Muffler Shop to the east at 1303 and 1401 West Evergreen Avenue.
