A defense motion to suppress items of evidence in the murder trial of David Bright was denied Tuesday in Fayette County Circuit Court.

(DAVID BRIGHT)

A Mulberry Grove resident, Bright is charged with two counts of first degree murder in the September 2017 death of James Skinner of rural Brownstown.

The trial has been delayed numerous times, including when Bright was examined as to his fitness to stand trial. He was judged fit, and Judge Kevin Parker scheduled Bright's trial for March 16. A pre-trial hearing was scheduled for February 26.

Bright faces 20 years to life in prison for each count. He is being held in Fayette County Jail in Vandalia under $1 million bond.
