Friday Night Accident on I-57 North of Salem

State Police report at 5:40pm Friday evening a semi operated by Jorgon Mata Ortiz, 33 of Laredo, Texas was traveling Southbound on Interstate 57 near milepost 123.5 between the Kinmundy and Salem exits. The semi left the roadway to the left and entered the median, then over corrected to the right, crossed the highway, struck several trees and came to rest off of the highway to the right.

Both Ortiz and a passenger, Rosendo Martinez Mendoza,43,  also from Laredo, Texas were taken by ambulance to Salem Township Hospital for minor injuries.

Ortiz was ticketed for Improper Lane Usage.
