Ann Deters is the 2020 Effingham Citizen of the Year.

Deters was awarded the honor, presented annually by the Effingham Daily News at the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce Business Recognition Gala. Deters was honored for her business success as well as her many civic activities including being one of the biggest supporters of the Effingham County CEO program.

Judi Bone was named Volunteer of the Year for her work on behalf of neglected animals. The award is presented each year by the Effingham Teutopolis News Report.

The Chamber also recognized its 2020 Excellence in Business Award recipients, HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital and Al's Tire Mart and Electronics. 

The theme for the evening was "Roaring Into the Twenties".
