Fayette County Authorities Investigating Shooting Incident

Fayette County authorities are investigating a shooting incident.

Vandalia city police were called about 10:20pm Sunday to the scene of a shooting in Vandalia. When police arrived, they found a white male dead. 

Fayette County Coroner Dave Harris was notified. When he arrived, Harris requested Vandalia police to contact Illinois State Police Crime Scene agents and State Police special agents.

An autopsy was performed Tuesday morning at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham. No further details are being released at this time.

Harris' office is continuing its investigation, along with Vandalia police and the Illinois State Police.
