A matter discussed by City Council and City Plan Commission members since November was decided Tuesday night, as the City Council denied a petition for a tower use permit.

Tillman Infrastructure wanted to erect a 199-foot tower near the Banker Street overpass, but the Plan Commission recommended the Council deny the permit request and the Council concurred Tuesday with the recommendation. Tillman argued that wasn't enough space on an existing tower nearby to accommodate their expansion plans, but the attorney for SBA Communications contended that there is still room on their tower where Spillman's operation is now located.

The Council approved a deferred compensation plan for City employees to consider at no cost to the City; approved renewing property casualty and workers compensation insurance coverage; approved a revised agreement with Economic Development Resources for more money since the project has grown to involve more property; and a plat of a lot in Mini Hills Subdivision was approved as a home site.

Commissioner Libby Moeller noted the passing of longtime educator and musician and CEO leader Craig Lindvahl and asked for prayers for his wife Beth.

Mayor Mike Schutzbach is on vacation, so Mayor Pro-Tem Hank Stephens presided over Tuesday's meeting.
