Brownstown School Board Passes Levy, Works on Coaching Assignments

Brownstown school board members this week passed the district tax levy for the new fiscal year.

The Board also approved new contracts with Superintendent Mike Shackelford, Junior-Senior High School Principal Jeff Wooters, and Elementary Principal Sherry Harmon. The Board also authorized Shackelford to complete an online grant application for the fiscal year school maintenance project grant; approved substitute rates for the remainder of the current school year; approved a resolution providing for the issuance of $2.5 million in general obligation bonds to finance maintenance projects; and approved a resolution to enter into a performance contract with GRP Mechanical.

The Brownstown Board approved a district threat assessment protocol; and finalized policy updates. Also approved was a new bus lease through Central States Bus Sales.

The Board employed Anthony Lach and Rene Dush as 5th and 6th grade basketball coaches for the school year; employed Brian Ward as junior high boys track coach for the school year; approved the resignation of Jake McWhorter as junior high boys track coach and approved McWhorter as a volunteer assistant junior high track coach.
