Cumberland Board Discusses Outdoor Facility

Cumberland school board members Thursday got some additional information on a restroom facility with a storage area and concession stand.

The project has been discussed over the past few months. Cumberland Superintendent Todd Butler stated that the design will cost approximately $11,000 from the Upchurch Group to design blueprints and design specs for the project, when the possible project gets to that phase. The Upchurch Group representative said the architect and engineering phase is nearly 70% completed.

The Board also approved the 2020 tax levy, and approved a resolution of tax abatement, abating $50,000 of property tax in the Bond and Interest Levy.

Board members also approved Butler's superintendent contract that includes performance goals.

The Board also offered congratulations to Josie McClellan, the first Cumberland High School student to be selected to the SADD student advisory board, and recognized that the Cumberland Student Council hosted the district convention. Jaykob Archer finished his term as district president and Alli McElravy fnished her term as district secretary. Claire Jackson was elected district secretary and Julia Archer was selected as Eastern Area 6 representative.
