A Ft. Wayne, Indiana man arrested in Effingham on drugs has been sentenced to prison time.

57-year-old Mark Hughes was taken into custody in November after Effingham City Police made a traffic stop on Hughes' vehicle. K9 Kona alerted on the vehicle for the presence of narcotics. 30 grams of crack cocaine was located inside the vehicle, along with pills containing hydrocodone and percocet, 17-1/2 pounds of cannabis and a loaded .45 caliber revolver.

There were other items located inside the car used in the manufacture or delivery of drugs.

Hughes pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm. A Class X felony count of cannabis trafficking was dismissed as part of a negotiated plea.

Hughes was sentenced by Judge Allan Lolie to three years in prison. He will also spend one year under mandatory supervised release once out of prison.
