A second Effingham County Board member has indicated he will not seek re-election in 2020.

Jeff Simpson of Altamont represents District F on the Board. Simpson said following Tuesday's Board meeting that he would not seek another term. He said, "I can't harp about term limits if I can't control myself."

Simpson has served on the Board for 10 years, following a lengthy stint as County Supervisor of Assessments.

Simpson follows District A Board Member Lloyd Foster in announcing they will not seek re-election.

Speaking of who has filed, here's the latest from the Effingham County Clerk's Office:

Circuit Clerk--Republican incumbent John Niemerg

County Coroner--Republican incumbent Kim Rhodes and Republican challenger Gerry Kingery

County Board District A--Republicans Eric Petty, Norbert Soltwedel and Gerald Kinkelaar

County Board District E--Republican incumbent John Perry and Republican challenger Mike DePoister

County Board District F--Republican newcomer Elizabeth Huston

County Board District H--Republican incumbent Rob Arnold

County Board District I--Republican incumbent Joseph Thoele and Republican challenger Jeremy D. Deters

The filing period continues through Monday, December 2, but a reminder that the County Clerk's office will be closed this Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving break.
