Brownstown school board members Monday held a public hearing on the proposed sale of $3 million in general obligation bonds.

The funds derived from the bond sale would finance new water lines and plumbing underneath both the elementary and high school buildings, as well as re-roofing the original portions of both buildings and drainage in the northwest part of the high school parking lot.

Another project would involve rehabilitating the former Ag facilities, allowing the reinstatement of the Ag program at Brownstown.

There was no vote Monday on the sale of the bonds.

The Board did discuss the tax levy for the coming fiscal year; reviewed information from the building principals on the school district report cards from the State; hired Michelle Dial as a part-time and temporary bus driver for the balance of the school year; approved the replacement of the downstairs computer lab at the junior/senior high school; and hired Westendorf Construction to repair the outfield fence at the varsity baseball field.
