Ft. Wayne, Indiana Man Arrested on Drug, Weapons Charges

A Ft. Wayne, Indiana man was taken into custody on a series of offenses Monday night by Effingham city police.

Police Chief Jason McFarland said one of his officers made a traffic stop after he observed suspicious behavior. K9 Kona alerted on the vehicle for the presence of narcotics. McFarland said 30 grams of crack cocaine was located inside the vehicle, along with pills containing hydrocodone and percocet, 17-1/2 pounds of cannabis and a loaded .45 caliber revolver.

McFarland said there were other items located inside the car used in the manfacture or delivery of drugs.

57-year-old Mark Hughes was being held at Effingham County Jail on counts of manfacture or delivery of cocaine, armed violence, felon in possession of a firearm, cannabis trafficking involving more than 2,500 grams, and possession of controlled substance.
