Informational Program on Recreational Cannabis Thursday

An informational meeting on recreational cannabis is set for Thursday in Effingham.

"Recreational Cannabis--What You Need to Know" will be presented at the Suzette Brumleve Memorial Effingham Public Library. HSHS Vice President and Chief Physician Executive Dr. Marc Shelton will be the presenter. 

The program will begin at 6:30pm in the Workman Room.

Beginning January 1, Illinoisans 21 and older will be able to legally possess 30 grams, or about an ounce, of cannabis flower. 

Dr. Shelton will explain the difference between medical and recreational cannabis as well as CBD and THC, the forms of recreational cannabis and their uses/formulations, and implications for workplace policies.

The program will last one hour and include time for questions and answers.
