Effingham Park Board commissioners Wednesday reviewed 2020 program fees.

The Board agreed to a five-dollar increase to play softball or baseball in any league that uses umpires. The in-district fee went to $40 while the out-of-district fee is now $70.

The Board also agreed to increase team fees to play in a volleyball league. That increase will take effect next year. The fee will go to $300. Park District Director Jeff Althoff said this is the first fee increase for volleyball since 2011.

Althoff said there will also be a review of fees at Kluthe Memorial Pool. He said all of the reviews are due to the coming increase in the minimum wage, which will add to the expenses of the District.

Althoff said there was also a review of activities at Workman Sports and Wellness Complex. There are 1,823 memberships plus 478 Silver Sneakers memberships, for a total of 2,364 memberships and 5,009 members.

Althoff said a Junior NBA League is ready to start for second and third graders, and a Wednesday Night Pickleball League is ready to go.

Althoff also said that membership fees at the Workman have been revamped. He said the interest and participation at the Complex has led to the acquisition of a couple of new pieces of equipment, which should be in place by Christmas.
