A Newton man has been sentenced to five years in prison.

32-year-old Samuel W. Wilson was arrested in December 2017 on a charge of possession of methamphetamine, and in January 2018 on a count of possession of a weapon by a felon.

In Effingham County Circuit Court Tuesday, Judge Allan Lolie sentenced Wilson to two years in prison on the methamphetamine charge, and to three years in prison on the possession of weapon by a felon count.
