The Shelbyville man injured in a motorcycle crash near Beecher City last month has died.

Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrop said 61-year-old Randy James died Wednesday at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

James was operating a cycle shortly after 1pm on September 11 on Illinois 128, north of the intersection with Illinois Route 33, just west of Beecher City. The Illinois State Police report on the crash indicated there was a significant amount of an unknown substance, possibly diesel fuel, on the roadway, making it slippery. James lost control of the cycle, overturned, and came to rest in the roadway. He was first taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, then was transferred to Carle.

There were no citations issued at the time of the crash.

State Police and the Champaign County Coroner's Office continue their investigation into the crash and James' death.
