EJ Water Cooperative has been chosen as the 2019 US Water Alliance prize winner in the Non-Profit category.

EJ spokesperson Astrid Hutchison said EJ won due to its cross-utility partnership with Wabash Communications creating the joint venture Illinois Fiber Connect. Now, EJ is able to serve local communities by delivering award-winning water and high-speed fiber internet to rural residents in Illinois.

The US Water Alliance Prize is an award recognizing outstanding work changing how water is viewed, valued and managed. Awards were given in six categories to individuals and organizations that inspire the creation of a more sustainable water future for all.

The prizes were distributed in Austin, Texas on September 18 as part of the US Water Alliance's One Water Summit, a national conference focused on sustainable water management that brought together close to 1,000 leaders from across the nation.

Earlier this year, EJ Water was recognized globally for its cross-utility partnership as a finalist for Digital Company of the Year at the 2019 Global Water Awards in London.
