North Clay school board members finalized their budget for the coming fiscal year at their recent meeting.

The Board accepted a donation to NC Academic Foundation from Clay County Hospital in Flora for sports physicals, then also discussed expectations of the foundation, as well as its future.

There was also discussion of the Music Boosters and the expectations of the club. There was no action.

The Board hired Chrissy Erwin and Stacey Smith as freshman class sponsors; hired Trey Smith as volunteer high school basketball coach; hired Brittney McElroy as 7th grade girls basketball coach; hired Gretchen Simpson as 7th grade girls volleyball coach; hired Tyler Pilcher as 7th grade boys basketball coach; hired Jordan Pride as a sub custodian; hired Melissa Macklin as a sub bus driver; hired Jamie Parks as a paraprofessional; accepted the resignation of Steve Stortzum as a fulltime bus driver and retained him as a sub; accepted the resignation of Kari Deadmond as junior high assistant volleyball coach; accepted the resignation of Allen Lucas as fulltime bus driver and retained him as a sub; and gave the administration the authority to hire volunteer coaches as needed.

Board members were updated on the new and growing North Clay High School Music Club. Guitars and ukeleles are popular and instruction is being offered. Band Preview Night was judged a huge success. 27 beginning band students attended to try instruments. Music volunteers and professionals have been in the classroom to exhibit their musical talents. Music Therapy has also been provided to Special Education students.
