Trevor McCammack has been formally charged in connection with a Monday morning shooting incident in Fayette County.

Trevor McCamack 640

The 33-year-old McCammack, who lists Herrick as his place of residence, was charged with attempted first degree murder, as well as aggravated battery with a firearm and aggravated discharge of a firearm. The charges stem from an incident reported to the Fayette County Sheriff's Department at 3:18am Monday when a rural resident phone to say a man had come to his home saying he had been shot. Authorities found the man had been shot four times. He was taken to a Springfield hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, a search began for McCammack who was located at 8:50 that morning in an area near Shobonier.

The attempted murder and the aggravated battery with a firearm charges are Class X felonies, meaning mandatory prison time if McCammack is found guilty with the punishment ranging from six to 30 years. The aggravated discharge of a firearm charge is a Class 1 felony, meaning four to 15 years in prison as a maximum with probation an option.

McCammack is being held without bond at Fayette County Jail in Vandalia. A bond hearing is set for the morning of October 2.
