Mattoon police and members of the East Central Illinois Drug Task Force have made two arrests related to drugs.

(ELLISON)

23-year-old Dayton Ellison of Mattoon and 37-year-old Kamisha Santrock of Neoga were arrested Saturday. The arrests stemmed from an earlier incident that had occurred on Friday, when police attempted to take Ellison into custody for two active arrest warrants, one out of Coles County, the other out of Clark County.

During the incident, while in the 800 block of Richmond Avenue in Mattoon, Ellison is alleged to have fought with and ran from police, where he was able to get into a vehicle and flee, nearly running over officers. Ellison was again located at a location on US Route 45 near Neoga on Saturday, where he was taken into custody.

Police say during the time of Ellison's arrest, he was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. Ellison was arrested on counts of aggravated assault, resisting a peace officer, and driving on a suspended license, all in connection with the Friday incidents, as well as the possession of meth on Saturday.

(SANTROCK)

Santrock was present at the residence on Route 45 during the time of Ellison's arrest. She is being charged with obstructing justice, alleged to have assisted in hiding Ellison inside the residence and lying to police when asked if he were present.

Both Santrock and Ellison were taken to Coles County Jail in Charleston.
