We told you earlier about the Teutopolis Board of Education's decision to direct Upchurch Architects to seek bids regarding Phase Two of the construction and remodeling projects at the high school building. The work includes the demolition of the 1929 and 1949 sections of the building.

The Board also approved the audit of the past fiscal year; agreed to seek bids on a new school bus; approved early graduation requests for five high school students; approved a payment of $297,978.34 to Swingler Construction for work on Phase One of the high school project; and approved a quote from Effingham Telcom Solutions to run fiber lines needed to integrate the new wing of the high school building with the remaining building structure.

Board members approved the fiscal year budget; and agreed to hold a public hearing at their October 21st meeting on whether the District should waive a surcharge for children whose parents teach in the Teutopolis district but live outside the district to attend Teutopolis schools. There is a belief that waiving the surcharge could make it more attractive for teachers to work in the Teutopolis district.

The Board heard reports on activities in district buildings and on enrollment figures. Board members hired Terri Hille as part-time cafeteria worker, Morgan Wilson as junior high assistant volleyball coach, and Dave Pruemer as high school fresh/soph boys basketball coach; and accepted a resignation from Grant Keller as high school boys track coach.
