An Amtrak train struck a truck on a crossing south of Chicago Sunday evening, resulting in the death of the truck driver.

Initial information was that lights and gates were properly working at the crossing south of University Park, 30 miles from Chicago at 5pm.

Five passenger cars and one engine on the train were derailed by the collision, but none of the cars overturned. Reportedly, two of the 300 passengers aboard were taken for treatment. Remaining passengers were being housed in a gym at Governors State University until buses could transport them to their destination.

The name of the person killed was not immediately available.

If you're traveling via Amtrak, you might want to double-check your itinerary in case any track was damaged in the collision.
