A motorcycle and car collided Saturday night in Douglas Township.

Effingham County sheriff's deputies report the crash occurred at 7:55pm on US Route 45, just north of 1800th Avenue in the north part of the county.

Deputies say a car driven by 21-year-old Trent Koester of Neoga was northbound when it came to a stop because of a semi making a right-hand turn. Koester's car was struck from behind by a cycle operated by 65-year-old John Woodrum of Mattoon.

Woodrum was injured and was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Woodrum was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
