Ben Johnson has resigned as Neoga school superintendent.

Johnson is headed to Benton to serve as superintendent. It's getting back home for Johnson, a Southern Illinois native.

Johnson just completed his second year as Neoga superintendent, but has been in the district since 2005, serving as a building principal prior to becoming superintendent.

Johnson had let the Neoga Board know of his intentions to depart, so the District is already receiving applications for the post.

The Neoga board acted on several other personnel matters. Kirk Hacker resigned as junior high baseball head coach, as he was named high school fall and spring baseball head coach. Andrew Snow will take over the junior high baseball head coach duties. Christian Kessler was named the fall fresh-soph baseball coach. Also, Jackie Richards resigned as elementary school clerk; Sarah Dillingham was hired as Interventionist and Literacy coach for the coming school year; Jamie Martin was named high school Student Council sponsor; Gary Cardinal was named a non-paid volunteer basketball coach; and Amanda Baker was named non-paid volunteer volleyball coach.

The Board approved contracts for Dean of Students and Athletic Director Mike Taylor, elementary principal Denise Helmers, and junior-senior high school principal Kevin Haarman. The Board also contracted with psychologist Christy Elder for the coming school year; approved a YMCA After School Program agreement for the coming school year; approved bass fishing and swimming as activities for the coming school year; approved a junior-senior high school workout room floor proposal from Trigg's Flooring; reviewed district goals for the coming year; and approved an insurance consultant/broker services agreement with Dimond Brothers.

The Neoga board set a special meeting for June 13 to review the proposed budget.
