State Crop Report for Week Ending May 5

There was just two-tenths of a day suitable for fieldwork in the state during the week ending May 5.

Statewide, the average temperature was 55.9 degrees, 1.3 degrees below normal. Precipitation averaged 3.22 inches, 2.33 inches above normal. 

Topsoil moisture supply was rated at 26% adequate and 74% surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated at 34% adequate and 66% surplus. 

Corn planted reached 10% compared to 68% last year and 66% for the five-year average. Corn emerged reached 2% compared to 12% last year.

Soybeans planted was 3% compared to 26% last year and 16% for the five-year average.

Winter wheat headed was 9%, compared to 13% last year and the five-year average of 32%. Winter wheat condition was rated 6% very poor, 14% poor, 42% fair, 33% good, and 5% excellent.
