Death of Mason Resident Being Investigated

Authorities are investigating the death of a Mason woman.

Effingham County Coroner Kim Rhodes said 24-year-old Elizabeth Buening was found unresponsive Wednesday morning by a family member. She was transported to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, where she died. The coroner's office was dispatched to the hospital regarding the death.

Rhodes said the cause of death is undetermined at this time, pending an autopsy on Thursday and the results of toxicology tests.
