The Altamont City Council has reorganized in the wake of the April 2 election.

The Council recognized Jason Williams and Richard Frailey, who did not seek re-election. Each has served more than 10 years. The two elected to commissioner seats to succeed Williams and Frailey are Tayler Polk and Michael Walker.

The Council rezoned four residential properties at 209 West Washington, 211 West Washington, 212 West Washington and 105 North 4th from B-2 to SR-2 to reflect their residential status. They had originally been zoned B-2 since they were in the same block as a business.

The Council granted a special use permit for 14 North 2nd for the area above the former Clarkson's Furniture, allowing the area above to be developed as apartment dwellings. Also approved was a variance regarding parking requirements, switching the parking space requirement for the apartments to six, rather than 12.

Altamont Council members voted to annex a tract of property south of I-70 on the west side of the blacktop and to rezone the parcel from SR-1 to B-3, or highway commercial. The property involves farmground behind the Altamont Sporty's location and is owned by the Schultz family.
