Mattoon resident Daniel Cook has been sentenced to more than 16 years in Federal prison on methamphetamine distribution and weapons charges.

Cook received the sentence for distributing meth in Coles County in 2017 and 2018 and of being armed with a handgun during drug trafficking.

The 30-year-old cook and Crystal Cobb were arrested at their Mattoon residence in March of 2018. Police found meth, cash, scales and related items for drug sales, along with a handgun.

Cook pleaded guilty in December. He was sentenced to 11 years, three months for meth distribution. He received a five-year sentence for the weapons charge and was ordered to forfeit the gun.

The 30-year-old Cobb was also indicted in Federal court in connection with meth offenses. She and another defendant, 30-year-old John Morgan of Mattoon, have pleaded guilty and await sentencing.
