City Police Release Earlier Crash Information

Effingham city police have released information on two crashes from earlier this month, both involving injuries.

One crash happened on the morning of April 13 at 1600 Ford Avenue. Police report a vehicle driven by 50-year-old Rosalie Nasser of Effingham pulled into the path of, and was struck by, a vehicle driven by 30-year-old Gina Reeves of Altamont. The impact caused Nasser's vehicle to flip over and land on a third vehicle driven by 53-year-old Shelly Schutte of Sigel.

Nasser, Reeves and a passenger in Reeves' vehicle, 26-year-old Jakeb Smith of Altamont, all sustained injuries and were transported by ambulance to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment. 

Nasser was cited for failure to yield.

The other crash occurred on the afternoon of April 18th at the intersection of North 3rd Street and the interstate on-ramp. 

A vehicle driven by 34-year-old Jill Shuemaker of Windsor rear-ended a vehicle driven by 54-year-old Jennifer Zerrusen of Effingham.

Both drivers were injured, but refused treatment. 

Shuemaker was cited for illegal use of an electronic communications device while driving.
