An evaluation as to the fitness of Fayette County murder suspect David Leroy Bright has not been completed, so a status hearing today has been delayed.

The 70-year-old Bright is charged with two counts of first degree murder in the September 17, 2017 death of James Skinner at his rural Brownstown residence. Bright, a Mulberry Grove resident, was arrested in January 2018 by Illinois State Police and the Fayette County and Bond County sheriff's departments.

Bright had been scheduled to go on trial in March, but Fayette County Public Defender William Starnes asked for a fitness exam and the evaluation is still ongoing.

Bright's case is next due in court for a pre-trial hearing on May 10.
