The Dieterich schools administrative team Tuesday dismissed a substitute teacher after learning of a conversation deemed inappropriate.

Dieterich Unit 30 schools posted an item on their Facebook page about the action. The post reads, "Upon hearing of an incident on Tuesday, March 26th, involving an inappropriate conversation between a substitute teacher and a student, the Dieterich Unit #30 administrative team took immediate and appropriate action. The substitute teacher was removed from the assignment, dismissed for the day, and their services will not be utilized in the future."

The post states that the district "takes the safety and well-being of each and every student very seriously" and that "extensive background checks are performed on every employee, including substitute teachers."

When contacted Wednesday morning, Dieterich Superintendent Cary Jackson said he had no other comment on the matter.
