Busy Night for North Clay School Board

North Clay school board members had a busy meeting Wednesday night.

The Board heard a presentation from the PTO concerning building a pavilion near the elementary building, and approved an agreement with the Clay County Sheriff's Department to provide for a fulltime School Resource Officer for the district beginning July 1.

Board members renewed membership in the IHSA and IESA for 2019-2020, and renewed co-op agreements with the Clay City school district in high school boys basketball, high school cheer, high school girls softball and junior high girls softball.

The Board contracted for services from Bushue Human Resources; approved the high school baseball team playing at Busch Stadium on September 22; approved the amended calendar for this school year and the tentative calendar for the coming school year. The first day for teachers will be August 13, while the first day for students will be August 15.

North Clay board members hired Avery Williams as junior high cheer coach, hired Kim Adair as high school girls assistant basketball coach, and hired Vanessa Peters as junior high boys track coach. Michele Ruesken was hired as a paraprofessional.

The Board accepted the resignation of Grace Majors as a certified staff member as of the end of the school year, accepted the resignation of Adrian Guzman as district technology coordinator as of the end of the school year, accepted the resignation of Kaitlin Zink as high school head girls volleyball coach, accepted the resignation of Dave Skelton as a certified staff member for retirement as of the end of the school year, and accepted the resignation of Skelton as bus driver for retirement as of the end of the school year.
